Our Story
Humble Beginnings
In 1995, brothers Lance and Todd Appelbaum experienced game meat for the first time. Impressed by the taste of these healthy and sustainable meats, they returned home with a vision to raise Ostrich and Bison on the East Coast.
Lance recalls, “Growing up, my brother [Todd] always wanted to be a farmer, and I always knew I wanted to run my own business. Right then and there, we realized, this is what we gotta do.” Just two years later, Fossil Farms was founded.

Fall off the bone ribs...

These Duroc Pork Baby Back Ribs were amazing. The meat was incredibly tender and the rack was well trimmed. The quality was every bit as good as the quality of the bison from Fossil Farms, and we will be ordering them again soon!

Feedback on pork baby back ribs

The taste of the ribs were not better that than what I can get at my local meat market. Even though stated on your website at a certain weight per rack of ribs, these were the smallest pork ribs I’ve ever seen. Was a little concerned that they weren’t pork. So overall not worth the money for me.
