Our Story
Humble Beginnings
In 1995, brothers Lance and Todd Appelbaum experienced game meat for the first time. Impressed by the taste of these healthy and sustainable meats, they returned home with a vision to raise Ostrich and Bison on the East Coast.
Lance recalls, “Growing up, my brother [Todd] always wanted to be a farmer, and I always knew I wanted to run my own business. Right then and there, we realized, this is what we gotta do.” Just two years later, Fossil Farms was founded.

Our Christmas dinner was extra special this year as we ordered a pheasant from Fossil Farms. I followed the recipe on the website, and it did not disappoint. My only regret was I did not order two as there were no left overs. I will order again.
